Guides
This repository is a curated resource bank for technical writers at every level. Whether you are just getting started, actively practising, or working on complex documentation projects, there is a starting point here for you.
The resources are organised into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each level follows the same structure: you learn a concept, study the relevant resources, practise applying it, and work toward a concrete deliverable you can add to your portfolio.
Start at the level that matches where you are now. If you are unsure, begin with Beginner.
Levels
- Beginner: Foundations
- Intermediate: Practice and Delivery
- Advanced: Systems and Scale
How the levels work
Each level closes with a capstone deliverable. It is the practical proof that you have absorbed what the level covers and are ready to move forward. Build it, review it honestly, and use it as a portfolio piece.
The resources within each level are there to support the work, not replace it. Read enough to understand the concept, then practise.
Community
WriteTech Hub is a community for technical writers at all levels. This repository is one of the ways we support writers with structured learning and practical growth.
Technical writing is easier when you’re not doing it alone. You improve faster when you share your work, ask questions, and get feedback from people who understand the craft.
We encourage you to:
- Share your progress as you move through each level
- Ask questions whenever something is unclear
- Request feedback and reviews on your documentation
- Review and learn from other people’s work
- Build in public instead of waiting until things feel perfect
You can engage with us by:
- Opening an Issue in this repository to ask questions or request feedback
- Submitting Pull Requests to improve resources or suggest additions
- Sharing your capstone projects for review
- Collaborating with other writers on documentation practice
- Joining our Slack community to connect, ask questions, and get faster feedback from other writers
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Start early, share your work, and improve through feedback. That’s how technical writers grow.
